š Dne 9.7., sta EU in Nova Zelandija podpisali zgodovinski prosto trgovinski sporazum (PTT), ki obeta velike koristi za podjetja EU.
VeÄji dostop do storitvenega trga Nove Zelandije
Nediskriminatorno obravnavo vlagateljev
Pokriva Å”irok spekter vpraÅ”anj, vkljuÄno s posveÄenim poglavjem o trajnostnih prehranskih sistemih, Älenom o trgovini in enakosti spolov ter posebno doloÄbo o trgovini in reformi subvencij fosilnih goriv.
Sporazum zdaj Äaka na soglasje Evropskega parlamenta. Ko bo odobren in ko bo Nova Zelandija zakljuÄila svoj ratifikacijski postopek, bo PTT lahko zaÄel veljati.

EU and New Zealand Ink Transformative Free Trade Agreement
š On the 9th of July, in a landmark move, the EU and New Zealand formalized a free trade agreement (FTA) that promises significant gains for EU businesses. The FTA is estimated to eliminate ā¬140 million per year in duties for EU companies from the first year itself. This deal is predicted to boost bilateral trade by up to 30% within ten years and possibly increase EU annual exports by up to ā¬4.5 billion. The potential for EU investment in New Zealand could surge by 80%.
The agreement comes with unique sustainability commitments that include adherence to the Paris Climate Agreement and protection of core labor rights. Once the European Parliament consents, the deal will be ratified by both the EU and New Zealand, marking its commencement.
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, hailed the agreement: šļø"New Zealand is a key partner for us in the Indo-Pacific region. This free trade agreement will bring major opportunities for our companies, our farmers, and our consumers, on both sides."
The agreement opens up numerous opportunities for businesses, including:
Elimination of tariffs on EU exports to New Zealand
Greater access to New Zealandās services market
Ensures non-discriminatory treatment of investors
Improves EU companies' access to New Zealand's government procurement contracts
Sets high standards for personal data protection
Significantly reduces compliance requirements for quicker goods flow
For EU farmers, the FTA will be beneficial as tariffs on key EU exports will be eliminated from day one. However, for certain sensitive agricultural products, no trade liberalization will be implemented. Instead, limited amounts of zero or lower tariff imports from New Zealand will be allowed.
The EU-New Zealand FTA marks the first to embody the EU's new trade and sustainable development strategy. It covers a wide range of issues, including a dedicated sustainable food systems chapter, a trade and gender equality article, and a specific provision on trade and fossil fuel subsidies reform.
The agreement now awaits consent from the European Parliament. Once approved, and after New Zealand completes its ratification procedure, the FTA can enter into force. The negotiations for this agreement started in June 2018, culminating in the deal being announced on 30 June 2022.
